PATRICIA SCHULTZ DISCUSSES & SIGNS HER “1,000 PLACES TO SEE BEFORE YOU DIE” BOOKSIGNING
The second edition of this awesome, unique and completely revised and updated book with over 200 new entries… The world’s bestselling travel book is back in a more informative, more experiential, more budget-friendly full-color edition. A #1 New York Times bestseller, 1,000 Places reinvented the idea of travel book as both wish list and practical guide. As Newsweek wrote, it “tells you what’s beautiful, what’s fun, and what’s just unforgettable— everywhere on earth.” And now the best is better. There are 600 full-color photographs. Over 200 entirely new entries, including visits to 28 countries like Lebanon, Croatia, Estonia, and Nicaragua, that were not in the original edition. There is an emphasis on experiences: an entry covers not just Positano or Ravello, but the full 30-mile stretch along the Amalfi Coast.
Every entry from the original edition has been readdressed, rewritten, and made fuller, with more suggestions for places to stay, restaurants to visit, festivals to check out. And throughout, the book is more budget-conscious, starred restaurants and historic hotels such as the Ritz, but also moderately priced gems that don’t compromise on atmosphere or charm.

“PIPE DREAMS” DOCUMENTARY SCREENING & Q&A WITH LESLIE IWERKS
This documentary is about the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. The fate of America’s largest fresh water aquifer is at stake in the debate over Keystone XL, and a deadline for the decision to be made by President Obama has been pushed up from 2013 to February 21, 2012. Pipe Dreams is an important tool for thousands of people across the country successfully fighting the pipeline. Across the heartland of America, farmers and landowners are fighting to protect their land, their water, and their livelihood against the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline. Routed from Hardisty, Alberta to the Texas Gulf Coast, this tar sands pipeline is set to cross the country’s largest freshwater resource, the Ogallala Aquifer, and the fragile Sandhills of Nebraska, posing devastating consequences to human health, livestock, and agriculture.
Narrated by Daryl Hannah, the film follows what many call “the greatest environmental battle in the U.S. today,” and has been screened on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., and in Nebraska for ranchers and affected landowners. The G2 Gallery will be exhibiting images of the Tar Sands–the dirty fuel source at the heart of the controversy–by award-winning photographer Garth Lenz.

NOHO FARMER’S MARKET
The NoHo Arts District Farmers Market is a festive, family-friendly, open-air marketplace committed to bringing fresh, locally-grown food to the surrounding neighborhood. Enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables from California farmers, as well as other foods including breads, nuts, ethnic foods, cheeses, fruit juices, and cookies. You’ll also find clothing, crafts, and children’s activities, plus much more. Conveniently located just steps away from the North Hollywood Metro stop on the Red Line. This open-air street market has approximately 20 farmers, 20 local artisans, and 30 vendors who provide baked goods and prepared foods. I find my favorite organic apples and organic dinosaur kale weekly… Also, enjoy lots of samples. There are great deals to be made with farmers who come from as far as Sacramento.

Christopher Felver is known for his documentary photographs of the beats, poets and musicians. These photos from his Ordered World series show a stark contrast to the narrative photos of Ted Soqui, yet have a different impact by showing the force of simple words when joined together such as: JUST PEACE, JUST WAR, JUST 99%, JUST OCCUPY.
